Anju from Narendrapur Gram Panchayat in Dalmau block had lost a child due to a miscarriage, two months into pregnancy. Since her husband works in Mumbai, Anju spends most of the time he is away with her maternal family. This turned out to be fortunate circumstance since her mother and sister-in-law were members of Shalu SHG. They were instrumental in educating Anju and making giving her information that is vital during pregnancy. It was then that she learnt about the intake of iron tablets, vaccinations, breastfeeding, KMC and danger signs.

Today she has three healthy children: Mahi, aged 5; Pali, aged 2 and a son who is a month old.
